NYLON

Type 6, Type 6.6, Type 6.12

There are several grades of Nylon all with their own intrinsic properties.

NYLON 6

Nylon type 6 is the most economical grade.

Specific gravity: 1.12gm per c.c.

Water absorption: around 10% with some loss of rigidity

Temperature tolerance: resists boiling water, begins to deform at 120° C

Typical applications: Technical Brushes, Roller Brushes, Strip Brushes, Domestic Brushes

Resistant to:

Acetone
Ammonia
Benzine
Petrol
Diesel
Glycerine
Glycol
Mineral Oil
Turpentine
Carbon Tetrachloride

Nylon 6.6

Nylon type 6.6 is stiffer and less abrasive than type 6.

Recovery and water retention is better, with less loss of rigidity.

Applications and technical characteristics are similar to type 6.

Nylon 6.12

Nylon 6.12 is a higher grade filament having excellent recovery characteristics.

Water absorption is less than 3% with very little loss of rigidity.

Applications are similar to type 6 and 6.6 and in addition is suitable for toothbrushes.

Technical specifications are similar to type 6.6 with additional resistance to:

Methanol

Dichlormethan
